Our AML Policy and KYC Verification

We operate under Curaçao licence 8048/JAZ2023-045, and that licence comes with strict anti-money-laundering (AML) duties. This page explains, in plain language, when we verify your identity, which documents we ask for, and what happens if verification cannot be completed.

Our Commitment to AML Rules

Castle Casino holds licence 8048/JAZ2023-045 issued by the Curaçao licensing authority, and we run our platform in line with that jurisdiction's anti-money-laundering and counter-terrorism-financing framework. In practice this means we must know who plays on our platform, where their funds come from, and be able to demonstrate both to our regulator on request.

We do not accept deposits from third parties, and we do not process withdrawals to accounts or wallets that do not belong to the verified account holder. Every member of our compliance team is trained in AML procedures, and we review our internal policy each year against updated regulatory guidance. Players based in the USA, the UK, France, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy and Belgium cannot open an account with us at all, and we apply these country blocks at registration.

When We Verify Your Identity

Verification points

Know-your-customer (KYC) checks happen at three defined moments: at registration, where we screen your details against sanctions and politically-exposed-person lists; before your first withdrawal; and at any later point where thresholds or account behaviour trigger an enhanced review. You can play and deposit before full document checks are complete, but no withdrawal leaves the platform until verification is finished.

We ask for the following documents. All four corners of each document must be visible, and nothing may be cropped or obscured.

  • Photo ID: passport, national identity card or driver's licence, valid and in your name.
  • Proof of address: utility bill, bank statement or government letter issued within the last 3 months showing your name and residential address.
  • Payment method verification: a photo of the card used (first six and last four digits visible, middle digits and CVV covered) or a screenshot of your e-wallet or crypto wallet showing your name or wallet address.
  • Source of funds evidence, only when a threshold or risk trigger applies (see the section below).

How Verification Works Step by Step

From upload to approval

We keep the process tight so most players are verified without friction. Follow these steps and our compliance team will handle the rest.

Standard checks are completed within 24 to 72 hours of receiving legible documents. If we need anything extra, we contact you by email or 24/7 live chat; you never have to chase us blind. Your documents are stored on encrypted servers with access restricted to compliance staff, are never shared with third parties for marketing purposes, and are retained only for the period our licence requires.

  • Open your profile and go to the verification section after registering.
  • Upload your photo ID, making sure all four corners, your signature and the expiry date are visible.
  • Upload proof of address dated within the last 3 months.
  • Add payment method proof if you have deposited by card, e-wallet or crypto.
  • Wait for our compliance team's decision, usually within 24 to 72 hours.
  • Check your account status or your email for the outcome; if a document is rejected, we tell you exactly why.

When We Ask for Source of Funds

For most players, ID and proof of address are all we ever need. We ask for source-of-funds (SOF) evidence only when a legal or risk trigger applies: cumulative deposits above a threshold set by our AML policy, unusual deposit patterns, or indicators that a single account is funded from multiple sources. This is not an accusation, and it does not affect your standing with us; it is a statutory obligation under our Curaçao licence.

Acceptable SOF evidence includes recent payslips, a tax return, bank statements showing regular income, a signed employment contract, or documentation of proceeds from the sale of an asset. Once our compliance team has reviewed the material and is satisfied, the file is closed and you will not be asked again unless a new trigger appears.

How We Monitor Transactions

Deposits, withdrawals and limits

Every deposit and withdrawal on our platform is screened by automated monitoring, with manual review by compliance staff for flagged activity. Two rules matter most to you as a player: withdrawals are returned to the same method used to deposit, in the same currency where possible; and we cannot release funds to a bank account, card, e-wallet or crypto wallet that is not in your own name.

Our transaction limits are set out below. Crypto withdrawals are the fastest at up to 1 hour, e-wallets take 0 to 24 hours, and cards or bank transfer take 1 to 5 days. We charge no fees on either side.

If Verification Fails or Stalls

If a document is illegible, expired or does not match your account details, we reject it and tell you which requirement failed so you can upload a correct version. Until verification is complete, withdrawals stay on hold; deposits and play are unaffected unless we identify a serious concern, in which case we may suspend the account while we investigate.

If you do not provide requested documents within 30 days, or if we establish that submitted documents are falsified, we close the account. In cases of suspected fraud or money laundering we are obliged to freeze the balance and, where the law requires it, report the matter to the Curaçao authorities before any funds are returned or withheld. Genuine mistakes, such as a blurry photo, never lead to penalties; simply re-upload and we will review again.

How Long We Keep Your Records

Our licence obliges us to retain KYC documents and transaction records for a minimum of five years after your account closes or after the last transaction, whichever is later. We hold these records so that we can respond to regulatory or law-enforcement requests, defend the integrity of our platform, and support any dispute resolution.

After the retention period expires, documents are securely destroyed. You can request confirmation of what we hold about you, and why, at any time by writing to [email protected]; our compliance team responds within standard support timeframes.

Frequently asked questions

Can I withdraw before my ID is verified?

No. Under our Curaçao licence 8048/JAZ2023-045 we must complete KYC before the first withdrawal. You can deposit and play beforehand, but funds are released only after verification.

How long does verification take?

Most standard checks are finished within 24 to 72 hours of receiving clear documents. If anything is missing we contact you by email or live chat, which operates 24/7.

Why was my withdrawal sent back to the same method?

Our same-method rule is an AML requirement: funds leave by the same channel they arrived. We cannot pay a withdrawal to a bank account, e-wallet or crypto wallet that is not in your own name.

Is source of funds requested from every player?

No. We request SOF evidence only when a threshold or risk trigger applies, such as high cumulative deposits or unusual funding patterns. If asked, payslips, tax returns or bank statements showing regular income are accepted.

What happens if I ignore a document request?

Withdrawals stay on hold. If documents are not provided within 30 days, we close the account. Falsified documents lead to closure and, where the law requires it, a report to the authorities.
